Guide 01 · First-time visitors
Build the visit around your darshan route
General guidance only. Confirm current entry rules, reporting points and operating arrangements with TTD before travelling.
The most useful first decision is not the hotel or train—it is how you expect to enter darshan. A confirmed online ticket, a time-slotted token, a footpath token and Sarva Darshan lead to different arrival plans.
A simple planning order
- Choose a darshan route. Read the comparison below and do not assume an offline token will be available.
- Confirm the date and current rules. Festivals, rituals and operational changes can affect entry and waiting time.
- Plan your stay. If the ticket is early, late or your party includes children or elders, arriving the previous day may be easier.
- Plan Tirupati → Tirumala travel. Keep time for the hill journey, security checks, parking or bus transfers.
- Carry the original accepted ID. Names and ID details should match the booking.
- Reach the stated reporting point. Follow the time and instructions printed on your ticket or token—not a generic internet estimate.
A realistic day plan
Keep generous buffers. Crowd conditions reported by devotees vary greatly even for the same ticket type. A slot time is not a promise that darshan will finish within a fixed number of hours. Avoid tight onward train, flight or checkout plans.
Many devotees traditionally visit Sri Varahaswami before Sri Venkateswara Swamy. If you wish to follow that practice, allow extra time rather than placing it immediately before your reporting time.
Guide 02 · Darshan choices
Compare the common darshan routes
Categories, eligibility, prices, quotas, counters and waiting conditions can change. Check official TTD information for your date.
There is no route that guarantees a “quick” darshan. Ticket availability, crowd management, festivals and temple operations all affect the experience.
| Route | How it generally works | Plan around |
| Special Entry Darshan (₹300) | Booked online for a stated date and reporting slot. | High-demand quota releases; carry the booking and accepted original ID; waiting time still varies. |
| Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) | Free, time-slotted tokens may be issued at designated Tirupati counters when operational and available. | Counter locations, issue times and darshan date can change. Every eligible person may need to be present with ID. |
| Sarva Darshan | Free darshan without a paid ticket or slotted token. | Potentially long, highly variable waits; check live TTD updates before joining. |
| Divya Darshan | Token-based route associated with designated pedestrian paths when TTD is issuing tokens. | Token availability, biometric/scanning points and same-day/next-day arrangements are operational details—verify before walking. |
| Srivani Trust | Donation-linked Break Darshan options may be available online or through designated current-booking counters. | Donation terms, ticket limits, ID rules and live counter availability. |
| Arjitha Sevas / e-DIP | Some sevas use electronic DIP registration; others release as direct booking or virtual seva-linked darshan. | Separate release dates, selection/payment windows and cooling-off rules. |
| Special-category entry | TTD may provide arrangements for eligible senior citizens, persons with disabilities, chronic illness patients, infants' parents or NRIs. | Eligibility evidence, entry point, reporting window and current TTD rules. |
Avoid agents and unofficial promises. Book through official TTD channels. A helper or autofill tool cannot create inventory, guarantee a ticket or shorten the temple queue.
Guide 03 · Online booking
Prepare before quota-release minute
Release dates and procedures are time-sensitive. The official TTD announcement and booking portal are the final sources.
TTD commonly announces service-specific release schedules for future months. The dates and times are not permanent. Watch official announcements and note that Arjitha Seva e-DIP, direct sevas, virtual sevas, Angapradakshina, Srivani, special-category darshan, ₹300 SED and accommodation can release at different times.
Before release day
- Sign in to the official portal in advance and confirm your mobile access.
- Prepare each pilgrim's name, age/date of birth, gender and accepted ID exactly as printed.
- Keep contact information and a reliable payment method ready.
- Decide acceptable dates and slots with your entire party before inventory opens.
- Use a stable desktop browser and network; do not open unnecessary duplicate sessions.
Where the extension helps: TTD Autofill Assistant can pre-save up to 6 pilgrims and contact details, then fill supported booking fields. It supports passport/visa details too. You still choose availability, verify fields, complete CAPTCHA/payment and submit.

During payment
Do not repeatedly pay if the first attempt has an unclear status. Save the transaction reference, check booking history and bank status, and follow official support instructions. Community posts can reveal widespread issues, but only TTD/payment records determine whether a booking succeeded.
Dated release watch · October 2026
As announced for July 18–24, 2026, October quotas were scheduled across separate dates for e-DIP sevas, direct/virtual sevas, Angapradakshina, Srivani, special-category darshan, ₹300 SED and accommodation. This note is time-bound and will become outdated; use it only as an example of why one “release day” does not cover every service.
Guide 04 · Accommodation
Choose certainty in Tirupati or proximity in Tirumala
Inventory, allotment counters, tariffs and check-in rules change. Confirm with TTD or the accommodation provider.
Online TTD accommodation
When a room quota is released, book only through the official portal. Read the check-in date, time slot, location, occupancy, ID and refund conditions carefully. Darshan tickets and rooms are separate inventory.
Offline rooms in Tirumala
Central Reception Office (CRO) allotment is subject to same-day availability and process changes. Community reports repeatedly describe early queues and uncertainty, especially on weekends and festival dates. Do not build a family trip around a guaranteed walk-in room.
Pilgrim Amenities Complexes (PACs)
PAC facilities may provide basic rest, lockers or common amenities. They are not the same as a private room. Confirm current availability and suitability for children, elders and privacy needs.
Private stay in Tirupati
A pre-booked Tirupati hotel can be the safer plan when hill accommodation is unavailable. Allow enough time for the uphill journey and security checks. Choose a property near your arrival point or a practical bus/taxi route rather than relying only on straight-line distance.
Never pay an unknown person for a “confirmed” TTD room. Verify the booking in official records and avoid sharing OTPs or full identity documents.
Guide 05 · Travel & footpaths
Getting from Tirupati to Tirumala
Road timings, footpath access, token processes and transport may change with weather, crowds and TTD operations.
Government/TTD buses, taxis and private vehicles use the ghat roads subject to security and operational restrictions. Travel time changes with queues, checks, traffic and weather. Confirm the latest ghat-road timing and vehicle rules before a night or early-morning trip.
Alipiri footpath
The longer traditional footpath begins near Alipiri and offers a gradual pilgrimage route with many steps and facilities along the way. Fitness, weather and crowd conditions matter. Start with water, light luggage and enough time.
Srivari Mettu footpath
This is the shorter, steeper alternative reached outside central Tirupati. Access timings and transport to the starting point can change. If walking specifically for Divya Darshan, verify that tokens are being issued and understand the required scan points before you begin.
Luggage
Designated luggage transport may be available at footpath starting points. Use only official counters, keep the receipt/token safe and never place cash, jewellery, medicines, documents or irreplaceable items in checked luggage.
Walking does not automatically guarantee a darshan token. Token quotas and procedures can pause or change. The spiritual footpath remains open under its own operational rules, but darshan arrangements must be checked separately.
Guide 06 · Temple essentials
Pack for the queue, not for sightseeing
Dress, ID, baggage and security requirements vary by ticket or seva. Follow current TTD instructions.
Carry
- Accepted original photo ID matching the ticket/token.
- Booking confirmation available offline or printed.
- Essential medicines in permitted packaging and minimal personal items.
- Appropriate traditional clothing and simple footwear for the journey outside the queue.
Dress respectfully
TTD prescribes traditional dress for many sevas and expects modest attire for temple entry. Men commonly wear dhoti/pyjama with upper cloth or kurta; women commonly wear saree, half-saree, salwar kameez or churidar with upper cloth. Check the instruction attached to your specific seva or ticket.
Phones, cameras and bags
Electronic devices, cameras and luggage are restricted in temple/queue areas. Deposit prohibited items only at authorized counters and keep the token securely. Avoid carrying large bags, valuables or unnecessary electronics.
Sacred-hill conduct
Tirumala observes restrictions around alcohol, tobacco, non-vegetarian food, plastic and inappropriate publicity/content creation. Follow posted rules, maintain queue discipline, keep the hill clean and be considerate of elders, children and other devotees.
Guide 07 · Food & facilities
Use official pilgrim facilities where practical
Meal timings, counters, prasadam entitlements and facilities can change. Follow signs and TTD staff directions.
TTD provides free Annaprasadam facilities in Tirumala, with operating arrangements that can change based on crowd management. Follow signs and staff directions. Free drinking water and basic pilgrim services are available at multiple points; carry a reusable permitted bottle where appropriate.
Laddu prasadam entitlement and additional-laddu availability depend on the booking type and current rules. Use official counters and retain your ticket/receipt until collection is complete.
For medical help, lost persons, security or emergencies, contact the nearest TTD staff member or official helpdesk immediately instead of waiting for online replies.
